Michael Knight and Luke Sampson

March 21, 2025

Integrity is a core component of our company culture, and we aim for this value to positively influence
not just Bender Lumber, but our community at large. Therefore, being a good employee is more than
just completing the task at hand. It can also mean being willing to intervene and stop bad behaviour
when we see it taking place. And that’s just what happened when Michael Knight and Luke Sampson
stood up for what was right and helped prevent a potentially serious situation that could have caused
great harm to other drivers.

Recently while making a delivery together, our driver Michael Knight and unloading assistant, Luke
Sampson, observed not only an erratic and dangerous driver, but one who was actually traveling the
wrong direction on the road. While nobody wants to be considered a busy body, this situation could be
dire.

Our hero’s did not hesitate to call 911. Professional help was soon on it’s way to take the impaired
driver off the road. The action lead to an arrest but more importantly, for sure saved injury or even a
life.
We are very proud of Michael and Luke. They could have easily focused on the task at hand and just
gone on their way without seeing this as “their problem.” But they took action and showed great
integrity on that day. Their actions demonstrate the kind of culture we strive to have at Bender Lumber.
Great Job!
