Rick Brinson and Bob Ainsworth
June 20, 2025
Friday, May 16th 2025 was a day people in Linton, Indiana will remember. On that day, a tornado tore through the town and the surrounding counties.
Normally, our store is only open until noon on Saturday to allow our employees some time off, but this time, it was different. Material is needed to help close up homes and buildings to keep the contents dry.
The store would be busy filling orders that would help people in need. Our normal crew on Saturday would be unable to take care of the many people trying to secure their homes. Store Manager Teresa Kluesner and Bill “Cheese” Thomas decided to get a head start by opening an hour early. She arrived ready to help, along with her Saturday crew: Bob Ainsworth and Rick Brinson .
Bob and Rick were scheduled to be off that day, but understood the need would be great. On their own, they showed up to serve. Everyone stayed until the onslaught of pickup trucks were gone.
Even upon closing the doors for the evening, Teresa put a note on the door for anyone who might need emergency repair items to call. They did, and she took great care of the Linton community.
We are grateful for employees like Robert, Rick and Teresa who took responsibility for Bender Lumber’s mission. They went the Extra Mile.
